The musical collective / record label

C'EST PAS DES MANIÈRES

Created in 1992, the C'est Pas Des Manières collective is a group of entertainment professionals who share their skills and tools to promote musical projects.

The gamble of independence

C'est Pas Des Manières was originally formed around ten musicians and technicians from Lyon-based rock bands of the "indie" movement such as Jo Staline and Les Porcs. The members of the collective developed the structure over the years with the desire to afford their work tools and to live decently from their profession (Christophe Jacques, co-founder, musician and sound engineer - on France 3 in 2012). The collective also became a record label in 2000, becoming heavily involved in structures responsible for defending the interests of musicians and independent musical structures of the time (Grada - Rhônalpin Group of Artist Developers, Feppra - Federation of Publishers and Producers in Rhône-Alpes, cd1d - Federation of Independent Labels).

Since 2005, the collective and label has had a salaried team of 4 people working on administrative, project support, cultural activities, distribution, and communication tasks, also providing their expertise to various training organizations such as Cefedem. The team supports and develops the projects of the artists in the catalog on a daily basis. CPDM also offers administrative support services for cultural and audiovisual companies, as well as the provision of a rehearsal space, record production, and technical services (event management, sound system, etc.).

Mixed music / world music

At the start of the 2025 school year, CPDM celebrates its 33rd anniversary. Looking back, we can look back on some great musical adventures with Fun Carmen, Fred Oscar, They Call Me Rico, Leitmotiv, Blastik Pertran (and many others...). On this occasion, the collective chose to offer projects in its catalog whose common denominator is musical crossbreeding. The collective and label then took a new artistic direction that remains today with a "catalogue" that gives pride of place to "current world music" or "current world music" while opening up to other musical or artistic forms. Among them, the song World Acoustique with SoulAÿrès or La Bande-Annonce, the South American influences of Vidala, the Afro-Latin groove of Monoloco System or the encounter with African storytelling, soul music with the Pat Kalla shows, and many other musical adventures to discover...
